KALAMA RIVER FISHING GUIDES

The Kalama is a beautiful stretch of stream that the Rip Some Lips Guides have become fond of: beautiful scenery, a nice flow, and, best of all, BIG FISH.

KALAMA RIVER INFO

KALAMA RIVER INFO

Like many Rivers in Southwestern Washington, the Kalama River is a tributary of the Columbia River.

A bit shorter than most, the river only flows along 45 miles of Cowlitz County. The river originates at the south of Mount St. Helens and heads west to the mouth in Kalama.

The Kalama River was named after a Hawaiian employee of the Hudson Bay Company, named John Kalama, who made his living from building containers to export salted salmon.

Today, the Kalama is a major component for salmon migration in Western Washington. Kalama River fishing is amazing because each season, salmon use this tributary to migrate for spawning.
